Sunday Live Service with Pastor Steven Bloomfield (June 21, 2026)
What does it really mean to be a father? Our assignment is not about achieving some impossible standard of "perfection" because perfect dads simply do not exist. Instead, God takes imperfect, flawed men and partners with them to carry out a holy assignment!
In this special Father's Day message, Pastor Stephen breaks down the God-given assignment every father is handed. While it comes with the instinctive drive to provide for our families and protect our children, there is a third, crucial element that is often overlooked.
In this message, you’ll explore the three parts of The Dad Assignment:
To Provide: Before a dad ever lifts a finger, God is already a provider. Learn why we don't have to carry the heavy burden of being self-sufficient; when our ability to provide runs out, the Heavenly Father’s provision is just beginning.
To Protect: A dad's instinct is to stand between his children and danger. But Paul warns fathers in Ephesians 6 not to become the storm their children need protecting from. Even on the days when we blow it, God is standing in the gap, acting as a Father to the fatherless.
To Point: This is the most critical assignment! You cannot be everywhere with your kids. Your ultimate job as a father is not to be perfect, but to be a signpost—pointing past yourself to a Heavenly Father who will outlive you, never fail, and always be there for your children.
Whether you are a biological dad, a grandfather, a mentor, or even a son or daughter dealing with the pain of an absent earthly father, this message will encourage you. Discover the profound love of the Heavenly Father in Luke 15—a Father who watches the road, hikes up His robe, and runs toward you with open arms!
